Poem: “Dios bo’otik”*
Ancient One,
before the Big Bang,
eternal, always, forever –
–
New One,
re-inventing
in every generation,
–
coming to newness
in each of us
now,
–
our forbearers
gave you many names,
each too limiting
–
to encompass
your infinite mystery.
Forsaking all names,
–
or perhaps embracing
the cacophony of every
name, we come
–
into your presence
with thanksgiving
for our lives
–
and all that sustains us
through the joys and perils
of this mortal journey.
–
Amen.
* The title is Mayan for “gratitude”
